差别很大，不能相提并论。《战国策．赵策二》：「夫破人之与破于人也，臣人之与臣于人也，岂可同日而言之哉！」宋．胡仔《苕溪渔隐丛话前集．卷五六．洪觉范》：「公痴叔诗，如食鲫鱼，惟恐遭骨刺，与岐山猪肉，不可同日而语也。」也作「不可同年而语」、「未可同日而语」。
