植物名。五加科人参属，多年生宿根草本。主根肥大，形状像人，故称为「人参」。叶为掌状複叶，花小色白。果实扁圆形。根和叶都可入药，有滋补作用。我国东北、韩国、美国、日本为着名产地。种类繁多，以野生品种最为珍贵，其色红者称为「血参」。其根也称为「人参」，味甘，微苦。自古即为补血、强壮、兴奋之药。有中枢兴奋、利尿、镇静及驱风的功效。也作「人蔘」、「玉精」。
