皇帝即位。《清平山堂话本．张子房慕道记》：「话说汉朝年间，高祖登基，驾坐长安大国。」《初刻拍桉惊奇．卷一○》：「又过了一年有馀，正遇着正德爷爷崩了，遗诏册立兴王，嘉靖爷爷就藩邸，召入登基，年方一十五岁。」也作「登极」。
