病名。由白喉杆菌引起的急性传染病，以咽头、喉头为主要患部。症状包括发烧、咽喉肿胀、失音、呼吸困难或严重虚脱等，最明显的症状是在咽、喉部位产生一层白膜，故称为「白喉」。可使用抗生素或注射抗毒血清治疗，预防的方法以接种白喉疫苗最为有效。
