  1. 佛教用语：(1)佛教批评外道所做的种种自虐行为。《杂阿含经．卷三九》：「知诸修苦行，皆与无义俱。」(2)为了断除烦恼，而严格约束身心种种不善欲望的修行。即十二头陀行，如日中一食、穿粪扫衣等。《央掘魔罗经．卷一》：「出家学道行沙门法，受行十二头陀苦行。」
