旧时乞丐所唱的歌曲。后发展成曲艺的一种，有专业演唱者，用竹皮按拍，常以「莲花落，落莲花」为尾声，内容多民间传说。元．张国宾《合汗衫．第一折》：「没奈何，我唱个莲花落，讨些儿饭吃咱。」《红楼梦．第五四回》：「然后又命小戏子打了一回莲花落。」也作「落子」、「哩嗹花儿」、「哩嗹」、「莲花乐」。
