植物名。茄科茄属，多年生草本。原产于南美智利。地上茎高六十至七十公分，羽状複叶；夏日，梢上抽花梗，分枝开白色或澹紫色花。地下块茎也称为「马铃薯」，形圆如马铃，含丰富淀粉，味甘美，欧美人以为主要食物，我国多用作蔬菜佐食，亦可称为「山药蛋」、「洋芋」。
