在文句中，用來分別句讀和標明詞句性質、種類的符號。民國八年，教育部頒行新式標點符號，後因歷時已久，復受外來因素影響，致使用上頗生歧異。為求用法統一，及便於學習，遂於民國七十六年再頒布重訂標點符號手冊，內容大抵沿用新式標點符號的名稱，而略加更動。共收有句號（。）、逗號（，）、頓號（、）、分號（；）、冒號(:)、引號（「」、『』）、夾注號（－－）、問號（？）、驚嘆號（！）、破折號（──)、刪節號（……）、書名號（﹏﹏）、專名號（ˍˍ）、音界號（．）等十四種。
