根据旧约创世纪记载，上主在伊甸园种有知善恶树，所结的果不准人吃。后来亚当、夏娃受蛇的哄诱，偷吃了此果，于是知道了羞耻的事，此果即为禁果。后多用来作为未婚男女性事的表徵。
