植物名。胡椒科胡椒屬，常綠攀緣藤本。原產於東印度，我國南部亦有產。以其辛辣如椒，故稱為「胡椒」。莖高六十公分以上，有節；葉互生，長橢圓形或卵形，花雌雄同株，成長穗狀花序，並與葉對生。漿果球形，初為綠色，熟則變紅色，乾後，皮上生皺，變黑色，稱為「黑胡椒」；若將黑胡椒之果皮除去，則稱為「白胡椒」，可作調味料或健胃驅風藥。
