本指女子出嫁時，母親為女兒繫上佩巾，並諄諄教誨的儀式。語本《詩經．豳風．東山》：「親結其縭，九十其儀。」後用以告誡子女。漢．馬援〈誡兄子嚴敦書〉：「施衿結縭，申父母之戒，欲使汝曹不忘之耳。」亦泛指結婚。唐．權德輿〈鄜坊節度使推官大理評事唐君墓誌銘〉：「結縭周月，遭罹柏舟之痛。」也作「結褵」。
